Color Temperature

Before we provide our settings, let's see what we started out with: Pre calibration, these are the color temperatures over the grayscale range.

Out of the Box Color Mode Measurements

Note that Movie and Dynamic Movie are almost identical. That's well within the margin of error, the differences between modes would seem to be dynamic features rather than color differences.

Color Saturation and Tint are not available to a typical HDMI source such as a Satellite box or Blu-ray player, but HDMI from a PC seems to allow adjustments, per Mike

Per Mike: Calibration settings for User 1: Movie reference mode, Color Temp is on T3, Contrast on -3, Brightness on 52, Gamma on 5. All other settings on default.

NOTE: As there are no RGB grayscale controls, you can only pick the best color temp (T3) and try different gamma settings to get the best one. Most of the gamma settings were either too dark or too light.

Grayscale Calibration (RGB)

There are no controls to adjust, all the user can do is select from one of four presets:

T1, 2, 3, 4. For Mike's Calibration T3 was chosen.

Mike says: As there are no controls for RGB grayscale adjustment with an HDMI input, the best color temp (T3) was used. The gamma settings were all over the place, but setting it to 5 yielded the best results. Movie mode had the best color when set to the T3 color temp. Movie and Dynamic Movie modes are far too red (in grayscale balance) in their default T4 color temp. Using T3 doesn’t improve the overall Delta E by much, but provides slightly better RGB balance than T4.

Gamma is only acceptable using the Gamma 5 preset. The drop after 60 IRE (from 70 to 100) is what brings the average way down. Luminance tracking is only average as well. RGB balance is not great, with an average Delta E of 5.0. This is not bad for default settings on a projector, but with no way to improve them, you’re stuck with it the way it is.
