Menus
Once the projector’s been properly positioned, bringing up the menu allows the user to select the desired display mode. There are five display modes available: Brightest, Dynamic, Standard, ViewMatch and Movie. There are also three projection surface colors to choose from with a PC source, whiteboard, blackboard and greenboard. The usual adjustments (contrast, brightness, color and tint) can also be made to the picture.
The PJD6350 also offers both color temperature adjustments and full color management. There is a choice of four different color temperatures, but user adjustable color temperature gain and offset (ie: grayscale calibration adjustments) are only available with a PC input. Having full color management control means that each of the primary (red, green, blue) and secondary (cyan, magenta, yellow) colors can be adjusted for accuracy. While this is not something that most users will be able to use properly (as it requires special calibration tools), these controls may come in handy to tone down the excessive green or blue that appear in whites when using the brightest mode, as well as make skin tones more accurate in video presentations. There are also eight gamma settings and levels of Brilliant Color from 1 to 10, as well as Off. As with the color temperature and color management settings, this level of adjustability is almost unheard of in this price range.
The PJD6350 also features Viewsonic’s exclusive ViewMatch mode. ViewMatch switches between high brightness performance and accurate color performance based on the source information. This, in conjunction with the variety of adjustments possible, gives the user plenty of options to optimize the display to each particular type of presentation.
