Optoma HD8300 Projector - Warranty

Posted on July 15, 2013 by Art Feierman

The Optoma HD8300 would have to be considered Optoma's flagship 3D capable projector. With an MSRP of $4495, one would expect more than a basic 1 year parts and labor warranty. Great news! Optoma delivers a great warranty.

The Optoma HD8300 comes with a three year warranty, and that includes their Express Replacement Service. Here's how it works. Any way you slice it you get three years of warranty on the projector, and two years on the lamp.

During the first year, should a warranty related malfunction develop, Optoma will replace your projector with a refurbished one, you send back your defective one. During years two and three, instead, they will ship you out a loaner. You then ship back yours for repair. When repaired, they return yours to you, and you ship back the loaner.

By comparison, warranties of projectors in the $3500 and up price class do vary. There are some one year warranties, plenty of two year warranties and some other three year warranties. This Optoma warranty has to be considered one of the better ones. By comparision, one direct competitor, the Epson Pro Cinema 6010, also comes with a three year warranty, although they do the replacement for all three years, instead of a loaner, for years two and three. That's not much difference between them.

JVC on the other hand, just offers a vanilla two year warranty, not loaner or replacement, on their projectors which mostly cost far more.

Let's just say that the Optoma warranty on their HD8300 is one of the best available in the price range, and for that matter, for those spending twice as much or even more.
