I was definitely impressed with the performance of the NEC M322W. The color quality in the M322W’s Presentation mode would not be a subject for praise if it wasn't for the fact that the projector also almost achieves its rated lumen output in that mode. With most projectors rated at 3200 lumens, their brightest mode might be equal to the M322W's Presentation mode in lumen output, but would be closer to the M322W's High Bight mode in color balance. So, to get the same color quality as the M322W's Presentation mode, you would likely also experience a 500 lumen reduction in output. This makes using the Presentation mode a viable option, even for photo or other presentations that require more accurate color than mainly text-based presentations, but are in a venue that also requires high brightness. With over 3000 lumens in Presentation mode (at mid zoom), the M322W can hold its own in virtually any sized venue, even with minimal light control. In Movie or sRGB modes, presentations are blessed with solid color reproduction, making this projector a good choice for video presentations or photo slideshows. Also the NEC M322W's extensive networking abilities are first rate as well. If high brightness is not required (using Eco lamp mode), maintenance can also be kept to a minimum by NEC’s 9000-hour lamp and filter-free operation.
The NEC M322W has a lot going for it and its price point should be very attractive to the buyer looking for a low maintenance, high output projector in a compact, portable package. For price and performance, it compares well with other LCD projectors in its class, while offering more features than many of them.
A solid performer in every category, the NEC M322W deserves serious consideration from a presenter who can take advantage of the long lamp life in Eco mode and/or needs the flexibility to present from virtually any source. All this comes at a reasonable price and with a better than average warranty. For these reasons, we believe the NEC M322W deserves a Hot Product designation.
