Today, Epson, the number-one-selling ultra-short throw projector brand in the US, announced the introduction of the new Epson EpiqVision Ultra LS650 ultra-short throw projector. This new projector joins the EpiqVision Ultra LS800, the company's flagship ultra-short throw projector, introduced last year.
With the introduction of the new EpiqVision Ultra LS650, Epson aims to build products that offer customers immersive big-screen entertainment in their everyday living spaces.
"While the Epson EpiqVision LS800 continues to hold its position as our top ultra-short throw projector with the shortest throw ratio in our lineup, the new LS650 is our newest 4K PRO-UHD model, capable of supporting high content resolution and is intended to redefine traditional gaming and movie watching," said Fernando Tamashiro, Product Manager of Epson America, Inc.
The new EpiqVision Ultra LS650 features a modern, redefined ultra-short throw design that builds on the latest design language Epson established with the EpiqVision Ultra LS800. While the unit cosmetically looks identical to the Epiqvision LS300, it has some notable upgrades.

While the chassis is similar in size to last year's Full HD LS300 model, the LS650 is equipped with Epson's 4K PRO-UHD technology to deliver 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) displayed resolution by shifting each pixel diagonally by 0.5 pixels. This pixel shifting quadruples the displayed resolution from 1,920 x 1,080 to 4K (3,840 x 2,160). This new high-resolution projector promises a stunning picture using Epson's proprietary 3-Chip 3LCD technology and 3,600 lumens of color and white brightness supplied by the projector's powerful laser light source.
The EpiqVision Ultra LS650 can be placed close to the wall for uninterrupted viewing, making it convenient and easy to use in living rooms, bedrooms, and home theater spaces of almost any size. And, with the Epson Setting Assistant app, setting up and adjusting display size is hassle-free. Epson recognizes the importance of providing bright, colorful images to customers seeking a theater experience in their homes.
"As the demand for ultra-short throw projectors continues to grow, Epson is expanding our best-selling lineup for big-screen entertainment to meet a wider range of viewing needs with the EpiqVision Ultra LS650 Smart Streaming Laser Projector," said Fernando Tamashiro.
The LS650 features Epson’s real-time 10-bit analog-to-digital video processing for smooth tonal transitions while helping to eliminate banding, blocking, and other compression artifacts from the final visual performance. This powerful processing technology faithfully reproduces the source material the way it was intended to be shown.
The LS650 features full 10-bit HDR color processing, accepting 100% of the HDR source. The projector's rated brightness of 3600 ANSI lumens, ensures that HDR content is faithfully reproduced for exceptional visual performance.
Recognizing that a big picture needs big sound, Epson continues its partnership with Yamaha Audio. Like its big brother, the LS650 offers built-in sound by Yamaha. Designed exclusively for Epson, the Yamaha 2.1 virtual surround system creates immersive sound performance straight from the box. To take the listening experience up a notch, Epson's engineers designed a new sleek metal grill to cover the projector's speakers with minimum distortion being added to the audio mix.
The unit has two HDMI inputs. For those who want to connect the projector to a bigger external sound system, one of the projector's HDMI connections supports eARC. This port makes it easy to switch from the built-in speakers to other external AV receivers or soundbars by simply using the projector's single remote controller.
Equipped with smart TV capabilities, the Epson EpiqVision Ultra LS650 also makes it easy to access popular streaming channels, including Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, Disney+, HBO, YouTube, and more. Epiqvision Ultra LS650 owners can even stream live TV and search for content with the built-in Google Assistant.
Whether watching a live sporting event, streaming your favorite series, gaming on the latest consoles, or watching a blockbuster movie, the Epson EpiqVision Ultra LS650 Smart Streaming Laser Projector will simply amaze you.
Pricing and availability for the Epson EpiqVision Ultra LS650 Smart Streaming Laser Projector will be announced in Fall 2023.
