Dangbei was highlighting two new projectors at CES 2025

While walking through the Venetian during CES 2025, we happened upon the Dangbei Booth. Last year we reviewed a couple of their projectors and were impressed, the Dangbei Atom as well as the Mars Pro 2 (DB0X02), both of which won awards.

This year at CES 2025, Dangbei introduced two new products: the Dangbei Freedo, a portable projector designed for convenience and versatility, and the Dangbei MP1 Max, a high-performance projector aimed at home entertainment enthusiasts.

Dangbei Freedo Portable Projector

The Dangbei Freedo represents the company’s first battery-powered portable projector. It features a compact design with a gimbal-based stand, allowing users to adjust the projection angle easily. Despite its small size, the Freedo delivers 450 ISO lumens of brightness, making it suitable for casual viewing in moderately lit environments.

It has a built-in battery that supports up to 2.5 hours of video playback or six hours of use as a portable speaker. In addition, the Freedo supports fast charging from 65W or higher power banks and phone/laptop chargers via USB-C.

The device also includes Google TV integration, enabling access to a wide range of streaming platforms like Netflix and YouTube directly from the projector. Connectivity options include dual HDMI ports, a USB input, and a headphone jack, further enhancing its versatility.

The Freedo has a built-in 360° speaker with Dolby Audio compatibility, and the projector can also be utilized as a Bluetooth speaker. The integrated stand offers a wide 165° tilt range to project on any flat surface, including the ceiling. The Freedo InstanPro AI Image Setup feature incorporates autofocus and auto keystone correction to streamline the setup process.

With its lightweight construction and included carrying case, the Freedo is positioned as a solution for on-the-go entertainment. The Dangbei Freedo is currently available at an introductory price of $439, with an MSRP of $549.

Dangbei MP1 Max

Alongside the Freedo, Dangbei showcased the MP1 Max, designed for high-performance home entertainment. This model utilizes a tri-laser LED hybrid light source that can deliver 3,100 ISO lumens of brightness, so it is suitable for well-lit rooms and large-screen applications. Dangbei says the hybrid light source's continuous spectrum filters out harmful blue light wavelengths, which reduces eye strain to ensure long, comfortable viewing sessions.

It offers impressive color reproduction, covering 110% of the BT.2020 color gamut. It includes a preset picture mode with calibrated settings for D65 color temperature and ∆E<1 color accuracy, ensuring accurate and vibrant color reproduction.

The M1 includes dual 12W speakers which are housed in a 750ml sound chamber to produce bass down to 45Hz to deliver powerful audio that matches the stunning visuals.

The MP1 Max features a sleek design with a 360-degree adjustable gimbal mount, allowing for flexible placement and projection angles. Like the Freedo, it includes Google TV integration, autofocus, and auto keystone correction for ease of use. It also provides multiple connectivity options, such as dual HDMI inputs and a USB port, catering to various multimedia needs. The expected price for the MP1 Max is approximately $1,899, with availability planned for later in the year.

The differences between the two models highlight Dangbei’s efforts to cater to diverse user needs. The Freedo is ideal for portable and casual use, offering convenience and flexibility for travel, outdoor movie nights, or social gatherings. In contrast, the MP1 Max targets home theater enthusiasts who prioritize brightness, color accuracy, and immersive experiences.

Despite their differing applications, both models share smart features and thoughtful designs that reflect Dangbei’s focus on user-friendly technology. By introducing these new projectors, Dangbei demonstrates its commitment to expanding its product lineup and addressing both portable and home entertainment markets. While the Freedo’s portability and practicality make it an appealing option for on-the-go use, the MP1 Max offers advanced performance for those seeking a premium home theater experience.
