BenQ W1080ST Projector - Warranty

The BenQ W1080ST projector, like it's longer lens throw sibling, the W1070, comes standard with a 1 year parts and labor warranty. When it comes to $1000 and under projectors in home theater / home entertainment space, that's typical.  The primary exceptions seem to be Viewsonic with 3 years, and Epson who offers two years, and also a two year replacement program.

Life would be better for all if every projector manufacturer provided at least two years parts and labor warranty..  That said, it's hard to really complain when the BenQ W1080ST comes with the same warranty as just about everyone else. When you look at slightly more expensive projectors, however, a good percentage have longer warranties.

Historically, I've been a BenQ fan boy when it comes to their overall support.  I've found them to be one of the few manufacturers that really will go the extra mile. A couple of times in the past decade, they've had some issues - once with early failure on lamps.  They took care of their customers, upgrading everyone and replacing every lamp at no charge. That doesn't mean it wasn't a nuisance to owners, but they did come through.  As is true with virtually all manufacturer support, I'm not claiming that BenQ's first level phone support is necessarily wonderful - that would be really rare in the industry, but it seems they react very well when there's a serious issue, and I can't say that about everyone.
