Overview

Aaxa may be a new brand to some, they have been around for years in Asia Pacific and Europe. They have really made a name for themselves delivering Pico projectors that perform well. The 4K1 tops the scale for a pico projector. It does fit soundly in the mobile category. It is small enough to bring with you on a business trip, or easily store in that hall closet for movie night. As aaxa has slowly built a good reputation for their products, I expect we may see some good things as the review plays on with the 4K1 mini projector.

The 4K1 mini projector from aaxa is available for a list price of $999. It comes standard with remote control, composite AV cable adapter and power supply. Being a 4K projector, $999 is a great price. Especially when powered by OSRAM LEDs. 30,000 hours of viewing time is really a long time. That is 1,250 days of viewing time. If you use the aaxa 4K1 for 8 hours a day, it will last you for over 10 years. Those of us that have been around projectors for a while have all felt the additional cost of purchasing a new lamp. This means the aaxa could possibly be the last home entertainment projector you purchase. That's a great improvement for us consumers.

The lumens will be a key factor in checking out the aaxa 4k1. 1500 Lumens is very bright for a projector that's just 3.8 lbs and 4k. I did notice that they are specified as LED Lumens, which muddies the water a little bit. It will be great to take a couple of measurements and compare the image appearance. LED light sources have a few advantages over traditional lamps and even laser. Improved saturation and no moving parts. I will get into those topics later as I move through the review process.

Rounding out the overview of the AAXA 4K1 Mini projector, let us talk in’s and outs. The 4k1 is ready to project with 2 HDMI inputs, USBA for thumb drives, SD slot for memory cards, and a built-in multimedia player. There are two 3.5mm connectors, one is a stereo audio jack, so you can connect your headphones directly or pass the audio into a larger system for surround sound. The other is to use the AV adapter for composite video. The aaxa 4K1 mini projector does have two 2w speakers, it will be good to take it out back and see how those perform on a nice summer night.
